Celebrating the Art of Classical Horsemanship |
|
HH Classical is dedicated to preserving the art of classical dressage. Our training methods adhere the principles of the Old Masters. This system understands and protects the gentle nature of the horse and works with each individual physically as well as psychologically. The academic way of learning to ride is a long one. Nothing is rushed and there are no shortcuts. We take care to always enjoy the journey. |

About Holly Hansen Holly Hansen was born into a family where riding, driving and the daily care of horses were always part of life. Her experience and knowledge grew while working with many different breeds and disciplines, but her passion for the purebred Spanish horse began when, in 1980, the Andalusian was introduced into her life while she was in college. In 1981, Holly worked for Sr. Paco Lazo Diaz, who owned a PRE (Pura Raza Espanola - Pure Spanish Race) breeding farm in the south of Spain. During the 80’s and 90’s, Holly traveled throughout Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and South and Central America visiting many breeders of PRE and PSL (Pure Sangue Lusitano) horses, observing the various schooling techniques with Masters of work-in-hand, long reining and the classical art of high school riding. Each of these art forms, so full of subtleties, sensitivity and refinement, were always done with the utmost respect for the horse. Later, Holly studied with Louis Ramos Paul in Spain and observing Dr. Guilherme Borba and Louis Valenca in Portugal, Michel Henriquet in France, all former students of Mestre Nuno Oliveira, whom were inspirational in setting the high standards which HH Classical strives to work toward with each horse and every student. The classical principles are honored in all training and pupils can learn the techniques of work-in-hand, correct lunging and long reining. At HH Classical, the essence of riding is taught. One must have a great deal of patience, perseverance, discipline and above all, honesty with your horse and with yourself. |
